I’ve Got A Colored Belt In Another Style, can I Wear It At Whole Armor?

Good Question! There are many different styles of martial arts out there, along with many different belts, rank structures and criteria that can make it difficult to know how a person’s background will translate into our program.

Usually we treat each case on an individual basis to determine what’s going to be best for the student. Often just talking about your history and what you want to accomplish will help us both realize the best way to help you get there.

We’ve had Black Belts from other styles join us and choose to start over as white belts because they wanted to be sure they were really learning everything correctly from the ground up.

Or sometimes if your style is similar, we might do a cross over training program that places you in our program at an equivalent place to where you were, and then gives you time there to acclimate and learn the basics “our way” before moving on.

In any case, proper etiquette teaches that whatever the rank, it is always best to wear a white belt when coming from another school, out of respect to the students at your new school. The Senior Instructor will then determine the best route to take integrating you into the Whole Armor Martial Arts curriculum.

Hope that helps! If you have any questions to feel free to contact us anytime.
