“This is NOT just another sport!”

One thing that I often encounter when discussing what I do is that most people really don’t know what Christian martial arts are all about. They think of cute kids in white pajamas having a lot of fun for a season and that’s about the end of it. But really nothing could be further from the truth.

Christian martial arts is not just another sport. And unlike most all the other sports activities many schools and families so quickly embrace – it is a lifestyle of Christian character development that has the potential to greatly improve the lives of every student of any age.

Think about it: do the basketball, track or soccer programs really teach anything spiritual? Not really, and yet folks can’t get enough of those activities. Parents spend hundreds of $$ with each changing season to get their kids in the shoes and outfits they need for each sport – and when it’s all said and done, really end up with nothing long term.

At Whole Armor Martial Arts we have the opportunity to truly impact students with life changing values, not just getting them psyched up for winning the district championship. The beauty of our program is that it combines the physical, mental and Spiritual disciplines that we all need in one package.

Students practice physical skills which focus on posture, balance and muscle control, greatly improving coordination and motor skills. The different drills and exercises challenge their minds and keep them thinking, all the while developing focus and clarity of thought.

Now these are all attributes that could be said of many sports activities, but in addition to all of that we also open God’s Word at each class and learn from the scriptures how we are designed to live. We focus on building Godly character and learning to make our choices based on the truths in the Bible and learn that real self defense starts with lifestyle choices.

And it’s not just 2 or 3 months and time for the next sport – this is year round, week in and week out, so that the character qualities of self discipline, respect, courtesy, honor, self control and so much more keep building, developing and maturing in the lives of everyone involved.

It’s truly an amazing thing to see (and you don’t ever have to buy any $100 shoes : )
Hope that helps! If you have any questions to feel free to contact me anytime.
